BIOGRAPHY

Ian progressed to high performance scientific computing support and systems engineering from a research career that began with a PhD in theoretical chemistry (University of Bristol) and went on to span postdocs in computational chemistry (Ruhr University Bochum, Germany) and computational biology & bioinformatics (MRC National Institute for Medical Research, and Francis Crick Institute, London). In 2017 he joined King’s and switched sides, as it were, from being a user of high performance computing (HPC) to providing support, administration & engineering on Rosalind, the shared hybrid cloud & HPC platform at King’s, jointly funded and operated by South London and Maudsley and Guy’s & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust Biomedical Research Centres, and King’s College London. Ian is especially interested in all things that intersect scientific research, data, compute, and information technology.
